iPhone..or..iPod Touch?
19Nov07
I sometimes think I should just get the ipod touch, and hack to to where I can have some of the iPhone features.. I would like the iPhone, but I dont want to wait until my Sidekick plan expires. I can just get a simple cell phone or what not if and when the time comes when I want a new phone. Or.. I could wait and get the iPhone and not activate the phone part until I want to.. or does it not hold much music? I have 12gbs of stuff on my itunes that would need transferred over to whatever I decide to get.
What are your guys’ thoughts? What should I do? [leave me a comment in my tagboard!]

Everyone I know (overseas) seems to love their iPhone, regardless of it’s downfalls (copy/paste, Flash, to-do list).
I’ve played with an iPod Touch; it’s amazing! I’m sure I’d get pretty hooked to it if I got one, but I don’t really need one.
The iPhone. Personally, I’d just wait it out — well, I have to seeing as we don’t have them here, in Australia, yet — especially if you don’t need it yet or aren’t sure.
As far as I’m aware you have to activate your iPhone to even use the iPod part. Although there may be a hack/jailbreak to get around that.
The iPod Touch. Looking at your situation I think the iPod Touch would be more suited to you at this point in time; you have 12GB of music: the Touch has a 16GB model which would fit all your music easily — the iPhone only holds half that. It’s also much thinner, lighter, and would have a longer battery life because you’re not constantly connected to a cellular network.
I’m going to wait until the iPhone comes to Australia (it’ll probably be a 2nd Gen version) before I make my decision.
Go and have a good play with one and see if it suits your needs.
I hope I helped a little bit.
